24-48 hours -

YOUR FIRST 24-48 HOURS

The goal of your first 24-48 hours is to get your contact list ready, and determine how you would like to run your business! This will also prepare you for your Next Steps talk with your Director!

There are 2 steps below for you to complete before we meet for your "Next Steps" chat.

2. Something to Sell

It is essential that you complete both sections of this training! This will set you up to be prepared for what we will be going over in person! 

It is so important to me that you keep in touch with your Director at any time! If you are stuck, unsure or just need a little motivation I am always here to help!

#1 - CREATING YOUR CONTACT LIST. (CHECKLIST 1 - #5)

Yay! You have your starter kit, we are preparing for your first party and I bet you are feeling nervous! That is totally normal - I felt the same way! Here is the simplest break down of where we are going to find people to invite! ​Remember that this is just a brainstorm! If you don't get all 100 that is totally okay, it just gives us a place to start! Download & print your New Consultant Packet from the link in "New Consultants" and flip to the "MK Wedding List" page! If you don't have access to a printer yet - just find something to write on!  

  • Write down 15 female family members that have your back.
  • Write down 14 women that you enjoy spending time with.
  • Write down 10 women you know from your kids (teachers, babysitters, etc).
  • Write down 12 women you know from school (whether you currently attend, or previously attended).
  • Write down 7 women that you wish you knew better.
  • Write down 8 women you admire or look up to.
  • Write down 6 super sharp woman who you'd be too nervous to ask at first. It's ok to have someone on your "chicken list"!
  • Write down 10 women you know from places that provide you with services like the hair salon, nail salon, coffee shop, the gym, etc.
  • Write down 12 women you know because of a friend- maybe you met briefly at a party, or school!

Woot Woot! How easy was that? You now have a list of 100 women that you didn't remember you knew :)

Our founder Mary Kay Ash was so passionate about consultants having the simplest, most efficient way to run their businesses. She wanted to make sure to work out all of the kinks and eliminate problems so that you didn't have to! 

She quickly learned that having a two week turn around on delivering products to a customer caused the customer often times to cancel the order. However, when she would deliver the product immediately after a class she found that women were more excited, willing to take home more and never cancelled the order! 

So how does this effect you? Well, you ARE the new Mary Kay Ash! You will be hosting appointments where customers try on product, fall in love and want to take it home that day! This may be a nervous subject for you because you have no idea where to start, but I promise you - together we will determine the best way for YOU to open your store so that you can provide tip top customer service!

National Sales Director Emeritus Dalene White has said so many times, “You cannot open a store with just a can of tomatoes and a five pound bag of sugar.” 

PRO'S AND CONS OF HAVING INVENTORY TO SELL

Make a SMART investment that is going to help you reach your goals.

  • If you have a goal of making $5,000 a month, a $200 inventory will not support that goal (after all, a $200 investment is $400 in sales. With a 50/10/40 split, that is $160 profit).
  • Talk to your director and discuss your income goals- she will help you figure out what is a smart investment for your goals: not too big, not too small.

Pros of having inventory to sell

  • Higher Sales
    • Women are impulse buyers. They always want to take home their goodies as soon as they try it!  Customers will add more to their cart if they know you can hand it over immediately!
  • Less Returns
    • When women have to wait for something they can have a change of heart due to finances, stress or even their hubby! If they are able to have it in hand as they are leaving they are typically confident in their purchase and won't look back! 
  • Confidence
    • You will feel SO much more professional knowing that you can service a group of other professional women immediately! This will also give you more confidence in your sales!
  • Profit
    • There is a quicker profit turn around when you choose to have some inventory on hand. If you constantly have to place smaller orders, you will be spending $10 in shipping every time. That adds up! Less ordering = less time and money it takes to get the products in your customer's hands = a happier customer! 
  • Higher Reorders and Less Drop Off
    • A customer who knows she can call you in an emergency is a customer who will stay for life! If she needs an eyeliner "like yesterday" and you don't have it - chances are she's going to run to Walmart or even another beauty consultant!
  • Less Frustration
    • Consultants who do not carry inventory tend to have to order more, take more time to deliver and ultimately get more frustrated with their business. Sometimes to the point of it "not being worth it to them" and quitting. We so don't want that to happen!

Cons of having inventory to sell:

  • The investment can feel like a pressure if you don't intend on working your business.
  • Choosing the WRONG level of inventory can feel like a mistake. YES there is a correct amount that is different for each consultant based on their willingness and activity level :)

Mary Kay Skin Analyzer App is a tool that brings skin care and technology together  at your fingertips.

With one scan the Skin Analyzer will highlight subtle signs of aging that can be easy to miss. 

By detecting signs of aging, uneven skin tone and texture, Skin Analyzer will offer product recommendations for each customer. Of course, nothing can replace the knowledge of a Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant.
